Pin It With Me (9/12/2013)

Hi hi!  Welcome to my day on the Pin It! blog hop!!!  Thanks for visiting :o)  I also want to say THANK YOU!!! to Kristen over at Meadowbrook and Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt for hosting and creating this hop - you ladies ROCK!
Here is the list of the lovely bloggers I am sharing my day with, go visit them and show them some bloggy love!!!
AnnieOak Designs  woof woof meow!
When I saw there was going to be a pin cushion hop, I knew I wanted to do it.  I've been wanting to make my own "pin and bin" for a while and this was the opportunity to do it!  I made a two-piece unit and will definitely be making some more!
The top portion I filled with rice and need to sew some non-slip shelf liner to the bottom, it slips and slides all over the place!
I attached some velcro to the tongue piece on the pin cushion and on the inside of the scrap bin.  The tongue is just long enough to hang down and be convenient, but not too long to get lost under my table.
I love the fabric too - I've been hoarding the texty fabric and it is perfect for my projects - woof woof meow!
Now, thanks for visiting!  I hope you enjoyed my little pincushion project, I know I do!  Visit the rest of the bloggers and don't forget to spread the bloggy love!
Here's some O love, she says - go check out the rest of the pins!!!

Covert Robin - What I Got & What I Sent

Hi hi!  I hope April has been a good month for you :o)  It certainly has been quick for me!  A couple of months ago I signed up for the Covert Robin: A Mystery Gift Exchange over at imagine gnats.  you get the name and contact info of another person and have time to stalk them, figure out what gifty you're going to make them, then send it to them.  Someone else has your name as well, so you get to stalk your mail carrier too!
I'll start out with what I got.  Kim was the one who got my name and she stalked me (and the girls) well!
She sent a box full of goodies that included a new tote with the cutest embroidery ever,
a stack of fat quarters (gonna use them in one of my table runner designs), a zippered pouch for my rotary cutting supplies (and a new blade!) and lastly - but probably most importantly to the girls, a little sack of treats for Annie & Oakleigh.
They're all too cute and very thoughtful - I loved this swap!
Next is what I sent.  The name I got was Heidi's.  She had just started her blog so I had a bit of an anxiety attack when I went to stalk her, but her blog told me all I needed!  First, it is pink.  Second, she mentions starting her own business.  Two things I can work with!  What new aspiring business owners have is a lot of stuff to carry around so, out came Amy Butler's Nappy Bag pattern that I absolutely LOVE.  I headed over to the LQS in Corvallis and found these yummy fabrics.
Off to the races I went!
When I made this bag for myself I didn't add all the pockets that there are in the pattern and ever since I have wished I did, so no pocket scrimping for this one (plus, she needs all the pockets she can get with a new business!).
Off it went and I anxiously waited for Heidi to get back from her work travels and get her gift!
I had a blast doing the swap and meeting both Kim and Heidi - two more great bloggers!  Thanks ladies, for participating!
Here's what I am looking at, so I am off for a snuggle.

see kate sew Envelope Clutch

Hi hi!
I was reading up at Amy's Crafty Shenanigans today and she showed off her Calypso Envelope Clutch.  When she mentioned that it was a pattern from see kate sew, I clicked over and found Kate had a flikr group with photos from folks who've made up her pattern.
So, I needed a quick project that I could do - I am tired of chain piecing and this was a fun break.  I printed out the pattern and dug out a couple of fat quarters and enough fusible to fit the pattern (barely).  Here's my finished clutch without a button/closure.
And the inside is a simple cream that matched the swirly asian print that I picked as my outer fabric.
Then, since I don't do button holes, yet, I decided I would try to do something different and used the scraps from my liner to whip up a little fabric flower.
What do you think?  I am thinking I should make a couple more - maybe in a coral and yellow, and put all three on the flap.  Then a magnetic closure.  What do you think?
Here's a little Lolly love.

Roman Shade and Farmer's Market (8/18/2012)

Today I put together and installed a roman shade in our laundry room.  It is the only window on the first floor that we didn't get blinds for when we had them installed in the house and it has been bugging me ever since.  We don't use the room much and the doors are always closed, but it gets hot!  The onions and potatoes always sprout early when I store them in there and like I said, it gets hot!
I found Jen's great little tutorial on how to make Roman Shades in 20 Pictures or Less and got to work.  It was great!  The only thing I learned that she doesn't instruct you to do (but she mentions her ruler keeping her 2" from the edge) is that you need to put your outside rows of rings close (like 2") to the edge of the shade, or you get saggy sides.
Oh well, it won't be up much and when it is, it'll still look great.  I love this fabric and think it looks pretty neat with the Roman Shade style.
I also hit the Corvallis Farmer's Market with the girls this morning and got quite a haul.  It is really hard to not just tear into everything all at once!  The canteloupes are filling the kitchen with their smell and I am looking forward to having one for dessert tonight!
The tomatoes are all juicy and yummy - Annie can't keep her eyes off of them when I walk by them in the kitchen.
The zucchini.  Oh zucchini - so pretty and so tasty.  Steam them up and sprinkle some Almond Parmesan on them.  Mmmmm.
I am going through withdrawals of dahlias this summer - I haven't been up to Portland much so I haven't had the chance to snag buckets of flowers from my Mother-In-Law's yard.  So, I put $2 in the Community Garden Jar and picked out this little bundle of flowers.  Think I might try and find that peachy-pink one for my MIL's collection.
I also dropped some lemon cucumbers off at Saturday Morning Coffee for Brad and Brandy and had some questions - what were they and how did they grow?  Just cucumbers and like cucumbers.  Simple.  Here is a ginormous mass of lemon cucumber flowers hiding.  I have a feeling I am going to be pawning these things off on anyone I can find.
And here is the cucumebr bed.  There is one green cucumber plant and several lemon cucumber plants.  If you notice the bed mayhem on the left side of the picture?  BOTH girls were in it this morning.
